Leading Western Australia's Brighter Energy Future

This week, the Hon Bill Johnston MLA, Minister for Energy, launched the next stage of Western Australia’s Energy Transformation Strategy. This is the Western Australian Government’s strategy to enable the transition to low-emissions and distributed energy sources and to plan for the future of our power system.

The next stage of the Energy Transformation Strategy includes initiatives across four areas, to be delivered over the period to 2025. These initiatives build on the work of the Energy Transformation Taskforce, which led the initial stage of the Strategy over the two years to May 2021.

  • Implementing the Energy Transformation Taskforce decisions
  • Integrating new technology into the power system
  • Keeping the lights on as the power system transitions
  • Regulating for the future

Energy Policy WA would like to acknowledge the great work and leadership of the Energy Transformation Taskforce over the past two years. We also appreciate the contributions from our partners across Government, the Australian Energy Market Operator, Western Power, Synergy, and Horizon Power. Additionally, we extend our gratitude to industry participants, government agencies, and other stakeholders for their participation in the Energy Transformation Strategy work program so far.

We look forward to continuing working with stakeholders across the sector as we deliver the next stage of Western Australia’s energy transformation.
