Due to the evolving COVID-19 situation and following the latest public health advice, WA has strengthened its border with Queensland, the Northern Territory and the Australian Capital Territory, transitioning from ‘very low risk’ states and territories to ‘low risk’ states and territories.
Under the ‘low risk’ category, all travellers who have been in QLD, NT and ACT or have travelled through QLD, NT and ACT, can enter WA subject to the following strict conditions.
All travellers:
- must complete a G2G Pass declaration, stipulating they do not have any COVID-19 symptoms, and which jurisdictions they have been in over the previous 14 days
- self-quarantine for 14 days in a suitable premises
- present for a COVID-19 test on day 11.
Arrivals entering WA at Perth Airport:
- are to undergo a health screening and temperature test on arrival
- be prepared to take a COVID-19 test at the airport COVID clinic, if deemed necessary by a health clinician (voluntary asymptomatic testing available for all airport arrivals).
Arrivals entering WA by land:
- are to be met at the border checkpoint for:
- health screening
- check of G2G Pass declaration before proceeding to a self-quarantine premises.
The current hard border with New South Wales remains in effect. Only travellers who have been granted an exemption are able to enter WA.
Western Australia’s border arrangements with South Australia and Tasmania have not changed at this point, but the situation is being closely monitored.
WA's border arrangements are enacted under the Emergency Management Act and failure to follow these directions will be enforceable by law, with penalties ranging from $1,000 infringements to up to $50,000 fines for individuals.
