A growing number of industries and businesses are seeking to decarbonise through electrification on the SWIS. This assessment of renewable energy demand will enable Government to form a consolidated view of the future network. It is to be held ahead of the next Whole of System Plan, which is due to be delivered by September 2025.

Renewable electricity ambitions from existing and new industry will be included.

A media release for the assessment can be found here.

In late 2022, the State Government will gather information from industry about the size, location and timeframe of anticipated electricity demand on the SWIS to 2030 and beyond.

The information collected will also inform the electricity Sectoral Emissions Reduction Strategies through a coordinated stakeholder engagement process.
