Strike Force Vulcan officers are seeking the public’s assistance for information as they investigate a suspicious bushfire that occurred in Southern River on Sunday, 6 April 2025.

About 2:55pm, emergency services were called to a fire in bushland on Barrett Street.  The fire spread rapidly and burnt approximately 20 hectares of bushland and threatened nearby homes.

It is believed the fire started in bushland on Millstream Drive next to Sandmartin Drive Reserve. 

Strike Force Vulcan officers wish to speak to two male youths who were seen walking in the area around the time of the fire, who they believe may have further information that will assist with the investigation.
