The Mabo Case, the future of Collie Power Station, Public Sector Finances, State and Federal Government relations, the aftermath of the Royal Commission into Commercial Activities of Government (WA Inc), the future of the Environmental Protection Authority, redevelopment of the WA Museum, reform of Land Tax in WA, and the future of Stateships, were some of the significant issues discussed by State Cabinet in 1993.

State Cabinet records in the State archives are opened to the public after 30 years and reveal the official decisions that have shaped Western Australia.  Historically significant, the documents reveal key decisions made by the government of the day. A new online guide to the records describes the papers, key issues, and historical context for decisions at the time.

As a result of the State election in February 1993, a new Government, led by Richard Court, was formed through a coalition of the Liberal Party and Nationals. The online guide to State cabinet records covers the issues and subjects discussed at each meeting of State Cabinet of the Court/Cowan Government from 16 February until the end of 1993. The date of the meeting is shown in the Guide, along with a list of each of the agenda items considered by State Cabinet.

The online Guide and State Cabinet agendas can be accessed online at:

State Cabinet records are held by the State Records Office (SRO) at the Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries. The SRO is responsible for managing, preserving, and providing the community with an information service about the State’s archives collection.
