Services of the Disability Justice Service can now be requested online thanks to the launch of a new website portal that has automated its services and made them available 24/7.
The Disability Justice Service Portal provides a simple, secure way to request services, including:
- general enquiries
- general feedback
- training
- training feedback
- Disability Justice Service referral request.
The new website portal was designed and built to allow members of the public, disability service organisations and other interested parties to lodge requests automatically.
The Disability Justice Service is a state government funded service delivered by the Department of Communities that supports eligible people with disability who are interfacing with the justice system.
The service:
- provides In-reach services to those held in prison or Banksia Hill Detention Centre
- provides support through a multi-disciplinary team of allied health clinicians, on a referral basis. The team assists disability sector organisations and the justice system to understand and better support people with disability around issues relating to offending behaviour
- delivers customised disability awareness training to agencies involved in the justice system
- operates the Bennett Brook Disability Justice Centre for eligible people with disability who are deemed Mentally Impaired Accused (MIA) i.e. unfit to stand trial.
