MyLeave’s Board Chair, Susan Barrera and CEO, Jason Buckley participated in a two-day conference held on 28-29 October 2024. The conference brought together the heads of all Commonwealth, state, and territory-based authorities responsible for administering portable long service leave schemes.
Together, these authorities currently cover more than two million workers across industries such as building and construction, community services, contract cleaning, security, and coal mining.
This meeting follows a successful national conference in Bendigo earlier this year (February 2024), which provided an important platform for the sharing of knowledge, experiences, and challenges between different jurisdictions. During the Bendigo conference, authorities reaffirmed their commitment to collective action, emphasising the importance of collaboration in ensuring all Australian workers are supported by strong portable long service leave benefits.
At the October conference, discussions focused on Ausleave, a collaborative platform that centralises information about each state and territory’s portable long service leave schemes. MyLeave, alongside our partners from other jurisdictions, continues to enhance this co-operative venture to provide workers and employers with streamlined access and up-to-date information.
The conference also provided an opportunity to discuss important benchmarking results across the various authorities and to explore growth opportunities and ways to evolve to better meet the needs of workers and employers alike. These discussions are crucial in ensuring that the schemes continue to evolve in line with changes in the workforce landscape.
As a key participant, MyLeave remains committed to the continued development of portable long service leave that are responsive to the needs of workers in Western Australia and across the country.
