On 11 May 2023, the State Government announced that Western Australian households will receive an electricity credit payment to ease cost of living pressures.

All Western Australian households supplied with electricity by Synergy or Horizon Power will receive a minimum $400 Household Electricity Credit. The credit will be split over two equal payments in the July and December billing cycles.

Customers that are eligible for the Energy Assistance Payment will instead receive a $500 Household Electricity Credit split over two payments. This will be supplied in addition to the regular Energy Assistance Payment of $326 for this year. The $500 payment includes an amount provided by the Commonwealth Government under the National Energy Bill Relief Fund.

Small businesses supplied with electricity by Synergy or Horizon Power and that use up to 50 megawatt hours of electricity per year will receive a $650 credit on their electricity bills, split over two equal payments in the July and December billing cycles. This payment includes an amount provided by the Commonwealth Government under the National Energy Bill Relief Fund.

RevenueWA is now receiving applications from eligible residential customers supplied electricity through an embedded network to receive similar payments equivalent to those outlined above.

The Small Business Development Corporation is receiving applications for the $650 payment to eligible small business and charity customers, including those supplied electricity through an embedded network. Applications to both processes close on 30 November 2023.

Further information is available on the Synergy, Horizon Power, Revenue WA and Small Business Development Corporation websites.
