Perth Detectives have charged a man following an investigation into a serious assault that occurred in Northbridge on Sunday, 26 July 2026.

About 1.10am, it will be alleged an altercation occurred between two men unknown to each other on the footpath outside a licensed premises on Francis Street.

It will be alleged that during the altercation, the victim, a man in his 30s, was assaulted, fell and struck his head on a light pole.

The victim was rendered unconscious and was transported by St John WA to Royal Perth Hospital with life-threatening injuries.

As a result of inquiries, a 19-year-old Balcatta man was arrested by officers later that day. He has been charged with one count of Grievous Bodily Harm.
He is due to appear before Perth Magistrates Court on Monday 27 July 2026.
