A Communities grant of $150,000 has been provided to the City of Busselton to develop the facility, which is a specialist bathroom with toilet and changing facilities for people who cannot use a standard or accessible toilet.
Changing Places are room-sized facilities that include a ceiling hoist, height-adjustable adult-sized change table and room for two carers to assist. Changing Places may also include a combined accessible shower facility and privacy screen to uphold the user's dignity.
Adding to the expanding network of 46 registered Changing Places across WA, the new facility in Busselton will allow people with disability, their families and carers to enjoy their local surroundings without having to worry about being able to access suitable facilities.
The facility is expected to be in use by the end of 2025.
