Last updated:

In March 2024, the Western Australian (WA) Government published the  Artificial Intelligence Policy and Artificial Intelligence Assurance Framework to provide foundational AI Governance for ethical, responsible, and secure use of AI and to ensure its positive impact on the WA community.

The WA Government is establishing the Artificial Intelligence Advisory Board (the Board) to provide expert advice on the safe and ethical use of AI in the public sector.

The Office of Digital Government is seeking Expressions of Interest (EOI) for membership of the Board from experts, with knowledge or experience in the following areas:

Essential Criteria

  • AI and Machine Learning: Experience of real-world application of AI technologies, an understanding of their algorithms and global standards in AI regulation.
  • Ethics or human rights in AI: Ethical considerations, including bias, fairness, transparency, and accountability in relation to protecting human rights.

Desirable Criteria

  • Privacy and security: Data privacy, security and management.
  • AI digital transformation or innovation: Change management, process improvement, and driving efficiency.
  • Government: An understanding of public policy development to improve community outcomes and governance or legal practices around AI use.

This is an exciting opportunity to inform public policy and AI best practice for the community.

Senior industry leaders and technology specialists across WA’s diverse skills landscape are encouraged to apply, including those from a range of backgrounds and perspectives such as people with disability, LGBTQI+, gender diverse, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander and culturally and linguistically diverse people and those with experience with marginalised groups.
