End of lockdown for Perth and Peel from 12:01am, Saturday 3 July

The Perth and Peel lockdown will end as planned at 12:01am, Saturday 3 July.

Interim restrictions will be in place until 12.01am, Tuesday 6 July as part of a safe and sensible transition out of lockdown.

People are encouraged to continue working from home and masks are still required to be worn indoors, outdoors and on public transport.

Travel outside Perth and Peel is permitted with restrictions. People who are leaving the region must continue to wear masks and will not be allowed to visit hospitality, entertainment and recreation venues or other public gatherings. People are permitted to enter retail venues and other businesses for takeaway.

People who are identified as close or casual contacts of confirmed cases cannot travel outside Perth or Peel.

Travel restrictions to remote Aboriginal communities also remain in place.


The following measures will be in place:

Masks mandatory

  • Indoors
  • Outdoors
  • Public transport
  • Usual exemptions are in place – including removing masks for outdoor vigorous exercise.

Gatherings

  • Limit of 10 visitors to all homes.
  • Private outdoor gatherings limited to 20 people.

Intrastate travel

  • Permitted with restrictions
  • Anyone who has been in Perth and Peel during the lockdown period (since Tuesday, 29 June) is subject to the following:
    • Mask wearing requirements
    • Not allowed to visit entertainment venues, some recreation venues, or hospitality venues other than for takeaway
    • Can visit retail venues or other businesses for takeaway.
  • People identified as casual contacts are not permitted to travel outside the Perth/Peel region until 12.01am, Monday 12 July unless for essential or compassionate reasons. Close contacts need to continue to follow the quarantine instructions provided to them.
  • Travel remains prohibited to remote Aboriginal communities.

Businesses and venues

  • 20 person limit and 4sqm rule for:
    • Hospitality (restaurants, cafes, pubs and bars)
    • Beauty/hairdressing
    • Public venues (swimming pools, recreation centres, outdoor playgrounds, museums). Indoor fitness classes not permitted.
    • Fitness venues (gyms, pilates, yoga, dance studios). Indoor fitness classes not permitted.
    • Casinos
    • Nightclubs
    • Entertainment venues
    • Places of worship.
  • Seated service only for entertainment and hospitality venues.

Hospitals, aged care and disability care

  • No visitors to residential aged care and/or disability facilities except for exceptional circumstances such as essential care, compassionate reasons, end of life and advocacy
  • No visitors to hospitals except for compassionate reasons, end of life, accompanying a child, supporting a partner to give birth
  • Category 2 and 3 elective surgeries postponed until Friday, 9 July
  • Hospitals will contact patients to reschedule – people should not contact hospitals directly.

Sport

  • Professional and outdoor community sport permitted without spectators - parents can assist where young children require support, but subject to 4sqm rule
  • Indoor community sport not permitted.

Education

  • Schools open (noting it is school holidays)
  • Universities and TAFEs open with 20 person limit and 4sqm rule per class.

Weddings and funerals

  • Limited to 20 attendees, not including event staff.

Events

  • Not permitted
  • Certain sporting events in a stadium permitted with no spectators.

Pending health advice at the time, restrictions are expected to further ease for a transitional period until 12.01am, Monday 12 July ahead of a return to pre-lockdown life. This allows for the completion of the full 14-day incubation period.

The eased transitional restrictions from 12:01am, Tuesday 6 July include:

Masks

  • Mandatory indoors, including the workplace and on public transport
  • Not required outdoors where physical distancing is possible
  • Regular exemptions apply
  • People should apply common sense and take a mask with them whenever they leave home.

Gatherings

  • 30-person limit in all homes for indoor private gatherings
  • 150-person limit for outdoor private gatherings.

Intrastate travel

  • Anyone who has been in Perth or Peel since Sunday, 27 June must also wear a mask subject to the above requirements

Businesses and venues

  • 150 person limit and 2sqm rule for:
    • Hospitality venues (restaurants, cafes, pubs, bars) for seated service only
    • Beauty/hairdressing
    • Public venues (swimming pools, recreation centres, outdoor playgrounds, museums)
    • Fitness venues (gyms, pilates, yoga, dance studios)
    • Casinos for seated service only
    • Nightclubs for seated service only
    • Entertainment venues
    • Places of worship.

  • Masks mandatory for staff and visitors.
