This year, the UN is drawing attention to the collective action to help achieve the 17 Sustainable Development Goals, for a better planet now and in the future.
Jacinta is a Project Officer for Housing and Homelessness working with remote communities and volunteers her time outside work in a number of different ways, playing her part to make the world a better place.
‘The beauty of volunteering is that you always have the freedom to do as little or as much as you like – if you are doing something you enjoy, it is easy to keep it up,’ Jacinta said.
In support of Western Australian organisations and volunteers, Communities delivers the Thank A Volunteer Day Grants Program which offers grants of up to $1,000 for organisations to host events or associated activities on 5 December. This year, 72 organisations around the State were awarded funding through this program.
The State Government also provides a Thank a Volunteer Day, WA Volunteer Certificate of Recognition template on request to volunteer involving organisations (VIOs). Signed by the Minister for Volunteering, the certificate serves to acknowledge and recognise the dedication of Western Australian volunteers who provide essential support and services across our communities.
