Detectives from the Major Crime Division are investigating an incident that occurred in Bayswater today, Tuesday 19 November 2024.

About 11am, police were called to Cantlebury Road following reports of a man in a silver Holden Commodore acting erratically. The silver Holden Commodore collided with a nearby Ford Ranger before driving away from the area.

A short time later, there was an incident on Rose Avenue between the driver of the silver Holden Commodore and a pedestrian who was struck by the vehicle. 

Police, who had just arrived at the scene, rendered immediate first aid to the pedestrian.

A 52-year-old man sustained serious injuries during the incident and was conveyed to Royal Perth Hospital where he was later declared deceased. 

The driver of the vehicle was apprehended a short distance away after crashing his vehicle into a traffic light on the corner of Railway Parade and Rose Avenue.  

The silver Holden Commodore was also occupied by two young children, who were thankfully unharmed. 

A man in his 30s is in police custody while he is being medically examined.
