Australia Day 2026 saw large crowds attend community events across Western Australia, including citizenship ceremonies, concerts, family activities and fireworks displays.
The WA Police Force conducted a statewide policing operation to maintain community safety. Officers maintained a highly visible presence at key locations and monitored individuals and groups who may have posed a risk to public safety. Police engaged closely with event organisers and local authorities to ensure celebrations proceeded safely.
Across the state, 34 people were arrested and 43 will be summonsed, resulting in 83 charges. Police also issued 71 Move on Notices and conducted 672-edged weapon scans.
