Aboriginal Family Violence Risk Assessment Tool

News story
Funding is being made available to complete a design and testing process to create an Aboriginal Family Violence Risk Assessment Tool.
Last updated:

Development of the Aboriginal Family Violence Risk Assessment Tool is a priority reform action of the Family and Domestic Violence - System Reform Plan 2024 – 2029.

The Department of Communities is seeking an Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisation (ACCO), Aboriginal Registered Business (ARB) or an Aboriginal consultant to develop a dedicated, culturally appropriate family violence risk assessment tool, including practice guidance, to use with Aboriginal people across the service system.

The Delivering Community Services in Partnership Policy (DCSP) defines an ACCO as an organisation that is:

  • incorporated under relevant legislation and not-for-profit.
  • controlled and operated by a majority of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people.
  • involved or connected to the community, or communities, in which it delivers the Services.
  • governed by a majority Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander governing body.

A registered Aboriginal business must be registered on Aboriginal Business Directory WA or Supply Nation’s Indigenous Business Direct.
