2024-25 Women’s Grants for a Stronger Future recipients announced

48 organisations have received a share of a record $1.085 million in funding to deliver projects to tackle gender inequality across Western Australia through the Women’s Grants for a Stronger Future program.

The expansion of this year’s program builds on the success of last year’s grants, with applicants eligible for a maximum of $250,000 in funding for initiatives that work towards the primary prevention of violence against women. with a focus on sexual violence and aligning with the Safety and Justice priority area of Stronger Together.

This program is administered by Department of Communities and provides funding support to develop projects that advance gender equality to build a better, fairer and more equitable community.

Some of the standout programs supported under this round of funding include:

  • $220,685 has been allocated to the Family Planning Association of Western Australia Inc. to work with young people and women in detention. The funds will support the co-design of a culturally safe, trauma-informed, and strengths-based sexual violence prevention educational program tailored for this group.
  • $99,375 towards Indigo Junction’s Maarli Deadly Yorgas workshops to support women in small business.
  • $99,751 towards The Underground Collaborative Inc’s New Employment Pathways for Women Surviving FDV, which supports family and domestic violence survivors into entry-level employment opportunities. 
  • $88,850 for the Gnowangerup Aboriginal Corporation to empower Noongar women to engage in the restoration economy, focusing on regenerative land use and nature repair initiatives through specialised training and mentoring.

The focus of the Women’s Grants are projects that align with one or more of four priority areas of ‘Stronger Together: WA's Plan for Gender Equality’, which are:, Safety and Justice, Health and Wellbeing, Leadership and Economic Independence.
