Production Licences provide holders with rights to carry out operations for the recovery of petroleum or geothermal energy within the licence area.
Last updated:

Where a commercial discovery is made, explorers have a statutory right to the grant of a Production Licence. These Licences are granted for an indefinite term and may be subject to termination if no operations for the recovery of the resource under the licence (either petroleum or geothermal energy) has been undertaken during a continuous period of five years.

Production Licences provide holders with rights to carry out operations for the recovery of petroleum or geothermal energy within the licence area, in accordance with an approved Field Management Plan and other secondary work approvals.
