Unseen Heroes

Litter reporters are our 'Unseen Heroes' who help hold litterers to account.
Last updated:

We have relaunched our Litter Report Scheme following a period of consolidation.

Throwing or dropping litter, even unintentionally, is not only an offence under the Litter Act 1979 but can be harmful to wildlife. Studies have found that about 40% of all litter in Western Australia are found on roadsides.

The Litter Report Scheme allows you to report littering if you see someone throw litter out of a car, helping to keep WA litter-free.

Watch our recent Unseen Heroes ad campaign here.

Litter reports are investigated by our Authorised Officers who will take action where possible. Infringements of up to $500 can be issued to individuals. In a typical year, infringements are issued for about 95 per cent of reports.

If you are interested in holding litterers to account, please join our Litter Report Scheme.
