The Training and Accreditation Council (TAC) records its education program webinars that Registered Training Organisations (RTOs) can access to support compliance practices. The TAC Webinar Recordings and Resources page offers a comprehensive list of webinars currently available.

The Standards for Registered Training Organisations (RTOs) 2015 require an RTO to offer recognition of prior learning (RPL) to individual learners (Clause 1.12). In the Glossary, RPL is described as “an assessment process that assesses the competencies of an individual that may have been acquired through formal, non-formal and informal learning”. RPL must meet the rigorous requirements of assessment as detailed in Clause 1.8.

This YouTube webinar presents an approach to RPL that supports the needs of the individual, industry, the RTO, the Training Package and the Standards for RTOs and covers specifically:

  • What is RPL...and what it is not
  • What is the use of RPL and how it is misused?
  • What Standards does RPL have to meet and how can we make RPL work?
  • RPL pre-assessment, at assessment and issue to consider
  • Policies and procedures for RPL
