What you need to know

A current Corporate Licence is required to apply for a Firearms Shooting Club.

What you need to provide

Each application is assessed on an individual basis and as such, owing to numerous variables, there may be different requirements dependent on the reason for the licence.

Should your club wish to achieve Shooting Club and/or Firearm Range Approval you are required to provide the following supporting documentation in company with the attached Shooting Club and/ or Firearm Range Application Form.

The following will be required and must be submitted with an application:

  • Application Form for a Shooting Club. See all resources section.
  • Authority Letter - An official letter nominating a ‘point of contact’ for all matters pertaining to the Shooting Club application and associated approval, that authorises that person to act on behalf of the Shooting Club.
  • Company/Business Extract or Incorporation Registration
  • Association/Affiliation details of a major (if applicable).
  • Insurance Certificate of Currency for indemnity and liability.
  • Club Constitution - Include your Statement of Purpose, your adopted Rules of Incorporation and your structure.
  • Club Rules/By-Laws
  • Shooting Disciplines
  • Club Membership - Total number of regular members and a comprehensive list of Committee Members including Roles; and
  • Firearm Range Details - Details of Approved Firearm Range or Memorandum of Understanding with the holder of an Approved Firearm Range.
    *** Not all Shooting Clubs have their own Firearm Range and may enter into a lease agreement with another Shooting Club to use their Approved Firearm Range to conduct their shooting events***

On supplying the documents to Licensing Services your application will be assessed and if approved, you will receive a Club Approval Letter.

The Club Approval Letter provides you access to issue club support for club members to be able to shoot their own firearms on your approved range (see requirements for an approval range above) or to shoot on another clubs approved range with an MOU.

You are also able to issue serviceability certificates and firearm safety awareness tests once receiving club approval.
