A concerning emerging issue of young regional males choosing not to wear a seatbelt has sparked the State Government to launch the Always wear your safety gear. Belt up campaign.
This campaign uses comparisons to demonstrate the significant risk of not wearing a seatbelt. The adverts use different scenarios involving a cricket player, a firefighter, and a tradesperson without their protective gear, comparing their lack of protection with a vehicle occupant not wearing a seatbelt. This prompts the viewer to question their decision to not wear a seatbelt, which is just as, if not more risky than the scenarios presented.
The Always wear your safety gear campaign ran March – June 2022 across regional media, including television, on-demand TV, radio, digital and social media, and roadside billboards.
