The Abandoned Mines Program (AMP) uses funds generated through the Mining Rehabilitation Fund to rehabilitate abandoned mines in the State.

The Abandoned Mines Program (AMP) began in 2015 following the enactment of the Mining Rehabilitation Fund (Mining Rehabilitation Fund Act 2012) and release of the Western Australian Government’s Abandoned Mines Policy.

The policy provides an overarching framework for the prioritisation and rehabilitation and/or management of abandoned mine sites.

Ashmore Seppelt

Diamond exploration operation, 75km east of Kalumburu and 150km northwest of Wyndham.

Bulong TSF

Nickel tailings facility, 40km east of Kalgoorlie, adjacent to Lake Yindarlgooda.

Collieries

Extensive underground working sin the Collie Basin which operated over various periods from the early 1900s to the 1960s.

Ellendale

Diamond mine, 140km east of Derby in the West Kimberley.

Elverdton

Historical copper, silver, gold mining from 1899 – 1971, 11km southeast of Ravensthorpe.

Northampton

Historical lead and copper mining, adjacent to Northampton town site.

Reids Ridge

Small gold mine, within the Karara Rangeland Park, 342km northeast of Perth.
