The department offers in-person training on how to use a selection of online tools. These include:
- GeoMap.WA and GeoVIEW.WA (for geological mapping)
- Mineral Titles Online (MTO) and TENGRAPH Web (for viewing mineral titles)
- MINEDEX (for mines and mineral deposits)
- WAMEX (for accessing mineral exploration reports)
- Drillholes (for exploration drilling and surface geochemistry data)
- WAPIMS (for petroleum and geothermal information)
Attending DEMIRS Data Essentials applications training
Twice a year training is offered over two days. Attendees can choose which day to attend that suits them best.

Both days have the same schedule:
09:00 – 10:00: Navigating GeoMap.WA
10:00 – 11:00: Using the interactive map viewer GeoVIEW.WA
11:00 – 12:00: Navigating Mining Tenure using Mineral Titles Online (MTO) and Tengraph Web
13:00 – 14:00: Using Mines and Mineral Deposits (MINEDEX)
14:00 – 15:00: Using Mineral exploration reports (WAMEX) and Exploration drilling and surface geochemistry database (Drillholes)
15:00 – 16:00: Using Western Australian Petroleum and Geothermal Information Management System (WAPIMS)

To help with a quick sign-in and start, please arrive 15 minutes before your session. Enter through the glass doors at 1 Adelaide Terrace, go past the reception desk on your right, and walk up the ramp to the DEMIRS reception area. A DEMIRS staff member will then take you to the training room.

What do I need to know before attending?
Show moreAttendees should have good computer skills and be able to do the following in GeoVIEW.WA and TENGRAPH Web:
- Identify features on the map.
- Zoom in and out.
- Turn layers on and off.
- Add drawings and measurements.
- Do a simple search.
- Create a printout of the map.
- Add coordinate readouts.
The training room has desktop computers for you to use, but it's important that you are comfortable with using a computer. You can also bring your own device if you want to practice with specific examples.

Should I attend both days?
Show moreYou could but you will get the same information twice! Sessions are repeated across the two days, so you only need to attend one session that suits your schedule best.
Why do I need to register for every session?
Show moreWe ask that you register for each session so that the session leaders know exactly who will be in the room. This is in case of emergencies, for security purposes, and so we know how popular the sessions are.
Why aren’t there more available spots for registration?
