About these information sessions
A series of 7 information sessions were held in various regional locations across WA and in Perth for stakeholders to hear about recommendations from Phase 1 of consultation held in 2022 and the proposed model for how the Bill is expected to work in practice.
Each session was led by Ms Roanna Edwards from PricewaterhouseCoopers Indigenous Consulting Pty Ltd and was supported by a graphic scribe.
Roanna Edwards is a Whadjuk and Ballardong Noongar woman, and a Director at Pricewaterhouse Coopers Indigenous Consulting, leading the firm's WA office. A journalist by trade, Roanna has spent over a decade working in Aboriginal Affairs across Commonwealth statutory bodies and State-owned utilities to deliver positive outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
Who was able to attend? All stakeholders across Western Australia, including Aboriginal people and representative organisations, researchers and businesses.
Those who could not attend in person were able to join in the session virtually or request a 1:1 meeting with the Biodiscovery Bill Project Team at biodiscovery@jtsi.wa.gov.au
