The Health and Medical Life Sciences round of the Local Capability Fund (LCF) aims to to provide small and medium-sized enterprises in the health and medical life sciences sector – or who are in partnership with companies in this field - with funding support to enhance their capacity, capability and competitiveness to supply major projects and markets in Australia and overseas.
This round of LCF grants forms part of the WA Government's $8.65 million commitment to support the implementation of the WA Health and Medical Life Sciences Industry Strategy.
The round was open for applications from Monday, 23 January and closed on Wednesday, 8 March 2023.
2023 recipients
Seven WA-based health and medical life sciences companies will receive grants of $20,000 towards gaining two accreditations with the International Organisation for Standardization (ISO).
The two different internationally recognised third-party quality standards are ISO 9001, which relates to quality management, and ISO 13485:2016, which is specific to the management of medical devices.

A healthcare company that specialises in the development and delivery of non-invasive medical imaging analysis devices and services, focusing on chronic liver disease.
St Francis Pharmaceuticals Pty Ltd
A pharmaceuticals manufacturing company with a history focused on supporting WA Industry’s research and innovation that includes product development and manufacture of scientifically proven healthcare, therapeutic and nutraceutical products that meet internationally recognised standards.
TriPhasic Cardiac Pump Pty Ltd
A medical device company that are developing a novel positive displacement pump for use in cardiac surgery to improve patient outcome.
VeinTech Pty Ltd
A medical device company aiming to reduce the failure rate associated with cannulation. Their solution is VeinWise – a handheld unit specifically designed to assist with visualising veins to cannulate.
