Aboriginal tourism is an important part of our industry. Western Australia’s rich, diverse and authentic Aboriginal cultural experiences give us a unique point of difference over other holiday destinations and will play an important part of the tourism industry’s future growth.
Business development
Tourism WA works in close partnership with the Western Australian Indigenous Tourism Operators Council (WAITOC), the peak body for Aboriginal tourism businesses in WA. WAITOC can provide information about available support for Aboriginal-owned businesses, or those offering Aboriginal-led experiences, to enter the tourism sector or develop existing businesses.
Camping with custodians
Tourism WA’s Camping with Custodians initiative builds community-operated campgrounds on Aboriginal land where visitors have the chance to stay with traditional owners and experience local culture.
Aboriginal tourism experiences
Western Australia is home to a wide range of Aboriginal tourism products including tours, accommodation, experiences and events.
