Important Information for STRA Accommodation Providers, Booking Platforms, and Advertising Publications

Starting from 1 January 2025, new requirements will be in effect for Short-Term Rental Accommodation (STRA) providers, booking platforms, and advertising publications that promote STRA premises.

For Accommodation Providers:

Ensure your STRA property is registered before advertising or accepting bookings and ensure that your registration number is conspicuously displayed in all advertisements.

For Booking Platforms:

Verify that any STRA listing on your platform is compliant. Publishing a prohibited advertisement is an offence.

For Advertising Publications:

Ensure all advertisements or promotions for STRA premises are compliant. Publishing a prohibited advertisement is an offence.

What Constitutes a Prohibited Advertisement?

A prohibited advertisement for short-term rental accommodation is one that:

  • Relates to residential premises that are not registered.
  • Does not conspicuously display the registration number for the premises.
  • Contains a false registration number for the premises.
