The Mental Impairment Review Tribunal, the Prisoners Review Board and the Supervised Release Review Board, collectively known as the Tribunal and Review Boards of Western Australia, are independent statutory bodies, performing an important role within the justice system by making recommendations and determinations for early release from custody. The Tribunal and Review Boards also consider the performance of supervised people and offenders on their orders when in the community.
The office of the Tribunal and Review Boards is located in the Perth CBD. We have a small team of highly motivated and dedicated staff focused on providing quality support to the Tribunal and Review Boards, to ensure they have the information they need before them to make fully informed decisions.
Coordinator Listings and Support
The Coordinator Listings and Support (Coordinator) role provides high level support to the Manager Listings and Support and the Members, both in and out of meetings, as well as assisting in the timely and high-quality provision of service to the Tribunal and Review Boards.
The Role
In addition to providing support to the Members and facilitating the smooth running of meetings, the Coordinator is also responsible for completing administrative tasks such as preparing files, agendas, recording accurate minutes and supervising the creation of release orders, warrants and decision letters.
Other duties of the role include, but are not limited to:
- Provides support to achieve the outcomes of the Tribunal and Review Boards.
- Ensures effective two-way communication between the Tribunal/Boards, judiciary and administrative staff.
- Prepares and maintains the files of the Tribunal and Review Boards to ensure the collation of offender information from relevant stakeholders to enable defensible decision making by releasing authorities.
- Analyses information to assist in informing the decision-making process.
- Generating and quality assuring paperwork for proceedings.
- Implements and ensures compliance with all policies and procedures of the Tribunal and Review Boards.
- Liaises between the Tribunal and Review Boards and stakeholders.
- Responds to enquiries and correspondence.
- Participates constructively and positively within workplace to achieve outcomes.
- Works with management to create a team environment that supports a positive organisational culture.
Support Officer
The Support Officer role works within a team responsible for providing administrative services to the Tribunal and Review Boards. The position is responsible for providing a range of administrative and secretarial support to the Chairperson, President, Members, the Manager Tribunal and Review Boards (Registrar), Manager Listings and Support and the Executive Officer.
Other duties of the role include, but are not limited to:
- Provides administrative support and secretarial services within an environment of competing priorities and constant adjustment.
- Maintains filing systems and ensure correspondence and appropriate records are kept. Maintains an accurate and effective correspondence file tracking and record system.
- Types correspondences, file notes, reports and prepare documents to a high standard of accuracy and presentation.
- Records decisions of the Tribunal and Review Boards into electronic databases.
- Liaises with stakeholders for collection of reports and other relevant documentation.
- Screens all correspondence and redirects to appropriate staff for action in accordance with established business area guidelines.
- Other duties as required in accordance with strategic objectives, business plans, local workload priorities and performance management plans.
