The Slip: What good looks like
This free event for the WA mining industry explores positive outcomes and successful safety leadership as the story of the Bingham Canyon Manefay Slide is brought to life in a stage play with thought-provoking, interactive facilitation.
ACT Australia, supported by the Mental Awareness, Respect and Safety (MARS) Program, is taking this production to Perth, Kalgoorlie, Geraldton, Bunbury, Karratha and Port Hedland during Safe Work Month.
What is it about?
The program explores work health and safety fundamentals including safety culture, psychosocial and physical hazards. The session runs for 2.5 - 3 hours.
Live theatre offers a shared immersive experience with the audience that brings the reality of safety and why we do it, to life.
Who should attend?
- Executives, senior leaders, health and safety representatives, human resource representatives, supervisors and frontline workers in the WA mining industry.
- Representatives from industry associations and unions.
- Other mining stakeholders with an interest in health and safety.

Mining Industry Summit: Driving Respect
The WA Government in collaboration with industry and the unions, organised the Mining Industry Summit: Driving Respect. The event was held on 1 August 2023 at Optus Stadium.
The aim of the Summit was to educate, inspire and empower WA mining industry leaders to drive respect and take meaningful action towards preventing and responding to workplace sexual harassment.
The Summit featured keynote speakers, panel discussions, and case studies from respected experts across government, industry, and academia. It was attended by 1,200 attendees from across the WA mining sector who could contribute to driving and influencing lasting cultural change. These include CEOs, board members, site senior executives, industry bodies, operational, HSE and HR leaders, as well as union representatives and elected health and safety representatives.
Keynote speakers included Professor Sharon Parker, Dr Dean Laplonge and Former Sex Discrimination Commissioner Kate Jenkins AO.
