This document summarises the values associated with ecosystems dependent on groundwater from the Yule River alluvial aquifer.
The project area is centred around the existing Yule River Borefield which has been in operation since 1967 as one of the sources that supplies Port Hedland.
As with most Pilbara alluvial aquifers, the system relies on river flow, predominantly generated from cyclone derived rainfall, as the main source of recharge to the aquifer.
