WQPN 9 - Community drinking water sources - protection and management

Guidance
Water quality protection note on the issues and measures to protect community-managed drinking water sources.
Last updated:

This note describes the issues and measures needed to protect the quality of community-managed drinking water sources.

Community drinking water sources are normally managed by a local corporation or community group and do not have the statutory protection as proclaimed public drinking water supply schemes. These sources generally serve communities of less than 1,000 people (such as mining camps, Aboriginal communities, caravan parks, roadhouses, farm-stays or tourism facilities).
