This note provides guidance on the design, management and operation of stockyard facilities, as well as to the disposal of wastes, to ensure the quality of the state’s water resources are maintained, especially in sensitive environments.
The note applies to permanent stockyards for confining and holding livestock for a range of purposes including sale, receival, transport, emergency feeding, husbandry, weaning, rendering, slaughtering and similar food or hide production animal facilities operating for a commercial purpose. It includes stockyards that are used both continuously and occasionally.
