This note provides guidance and recommendations on issues of environmental concern posed by restaurants, cafes and taverns in rural areas near sensitive water resources, such as public drinking water source areas and areas with high conservation values.
The note applies to all food premises located in rural settings that prepare, handle, store or serve any food products or beverages to the public, in areas where services such as reticulated sewerage and waste disposal may be limited or absent.
