About this guide

This explanatory guide forms part of the toolkit to assist WA Government agencies understand and implement the requirements of the 2023 Western Australian Government Intellectual Property Policy.

The guide is intended for agencies who choose to implement an employee rewards policy and includes:

  • information about options for non-monetary and monetary rewards for innovative employees;
  • guidance for developing agency reward policies and procedures; and
  • a suggested process to guide agencies developing employee reward packages.

The following templates and checklists are intended as a guide for agencies developing IP management policies and procedures. Agencies are encouraged to customise these documents to reflect their own policies, procedures and terminologies.
