This explanatory guide forms part of the toolkit to assist WA Government agencies understand and implement the requirements of the 2023 Western Australian Government Intellectual Property Policy

The guide includes:

  • guidance about the powers of agencies to develop and commercialise IP;
  • information about commercialisation pathways that may be considered; and
  • a suggested process to guide agencies commercialising IP.

Customisable templates

The following templates are intended as a guide for agencies developing IP management policies and procedures. Agencies are encouraged to customise these documents to reflect their own policies, procedures and terminologies.

  • Commercialisation opportunity pre-assessment checklist to assist agencies considering the commercialisation of an IP asset. 
  • Commercialisation assessment and analysis template to assist agencies to identify potential markets for IP, establish IP value and assess the risks and benefits associated with commercialisation. This information can be used to develop commercialisation plans and business cases.
