This project identified the need for a new allocation limit for Wellington Reservoir to provide a more reliable supply for the reservoir’s water users and to maintain water for the downstream environment.
The study’s results indicated that the current allocation limit did not meet the target for reliability of supply (75 per cent) under a drier future climate and may also not support the winter release regime designed to provide water to the downstream environment.
