The State Hazard Plan for Human Biosecurity provides an overview of prevention, preparedness, response and initial recovery arrangements for two hazards, collective referred to as 'human biosecurity'. The following events, situations and conditions are prescribed as hazards under regulation 15 of the Emergency Management Regulation 2006:
- human epidemic
- actual or impending spillage, release or escape of a biological substance that is capable of causing loss of life, injury to a person or damage to the health of a person, property or the environment.
Collectively the hazards are referred to as human biosecurity.
The Chief Executive Officer, Department of Health, is the Hazard Management Agency for these two hazards under regulation 22 of the Emergency Management Regulations 2006.
