This study investigated whether re-directing flows from the upper Sabina and Vasse rivers – which have slightly better water quality than the lower rivers – or utilising alternative water sources from the catchment might be able to lower nutrient concentrations and mobilise sediment away from the problem areas. The study also investigated whether decreasing water residence times in the Lower Vasse River would be beneficial, given blue green algal (Cyanobacteria) growth is impeded by flowing water.
