- The Denham Hydrogen Demonstration Plant Project is Western Australia’s first Renewable Hydrogen Microgrid plant and includes a 704-kilowatt (kW) solar farm, 348kW hydrogen electrolyser and a 100kW fuel cell.
- The Plant is an innovative alternative to diesel generators and is capable of offsetting 140,000 litres of diesel annually as well as providing a decarbonisation pathway for future energy systems.
- The technology on display at the Denham plant can be replicated in other remote microgrids and is capable of producing enough energy to power 100 homes, approximately 20% of Denham’s residents and businesses.
- The project has helped advance learnings in technology, costs, regulatory requirements as well as the community sentiment around using hydrogen as a fuel source.
