Last updated:

The Procurement Competency Matrix (PCM) aims to bring together and align strategies from across the sector for the procurement workforce. This includes strategies relating to:

  • succession planning
  • staff attraction and retention
  • capability development
  • performance management.

The PCM identifies and defines the technical procurement competencies that procurement professionals require when working in the Western Australian public sector. It aims to:

  • promote a shared understanding of the roles, responsibilities and expectations of procurement positions
  • provide consistent capability standards for professional procurement across the sector
  • support managers and staff by providing the means to address capability gaps across teams or individuals

The PCM is co-branded with the Public Sector Commission (PSC) and was developed with input from agencies across the Western Australian public sector.
