This Position Statement provides guidance to both proponents and decision-makers on the planning considerations which apply to infrastructure to support Western Australia’s container deposit scheme – Containers for Change.
It explains the types of container deposit scheme infrastructure and the Western Australian Planning Commission’s expectations for the assessment of proposals, including location and siting.
A model local planning policy – providing an exemption from the requirement to obtain development approval for some container deposit scheme infrastructure proposals – is provided, and may be adopted at the discretion of local government.
