Mining Rehabilitation Fund post implementation review – July 2018

The Mining Rehabilitation Fund is a pooled fund that is annually levied to ensure mining tenements are effectively rehabilitated after work has commenced. The 2018 review notes whether the MRF met its statutory objective, if there were any unintended consequences of the fund, whether the current processes and systems are suitable, if the levies and thresholds are still appropriate, whether the memberships of the MRF advisory panel are appropriate and what the performance against short—to-medium-term outcomes were for the reviewed period.
