The research compared processes and engagement with data collected from previous evaluations, and found:
- Student participation increased from 2003 to 2020 with nearly 23,000 pre-drivers participating in the program in 2020.
- Surveys revealed high levels of satisfaction with the program from participating students and from teachers responsible for program delivery.
- School students who completed Keys4Life demonstrated slight improvements to risk perception and attitudes towards speeding. Students were also more likely to intend completing more hours of supervised driving.
- The study made some recommendations for improving the Keys4Life program including developing more culturally inclusive lessons and resources for disadvantaged students and those requiring literacy, learning and/or language support.
