Study to determine the ecological water requirements of the middle and lower reaches of the Brunswick River
Last updated:

The ecological water requirement (EWR) of a river is the water regime needed to maintain ecological values of water-dependent ecosystems at a low level of risk. This report describes the development of an EWR for two representative reaches of the Brunswick River which feeds into the Collie River.

The results of EWR studies allowed the department to identify the ecological sustainable yield of the water resource, and place an appropriate water allocation limit, which takes into consideration the economic, social, cultural and ecological values of the system.
