Western Australia has a history of innovative medical research that has been successfully translated and commercialised into novel health and medical therapies and devices.

The WA Life Sciences Innovation Hub is a partnership between MTPConnect (Australia's Life Sciences Innovation Australia for the medical technology, biotechnology, pharmaceutical and digital health sector), The University of Western Australia and the Western Australian Government. The Hub partners drive activities and policies that engage and support all stakeholders across the breadth of the WA health and medical life sciences sector, including researchers, research institutions, the health system, government, investors, service providers, industry, start-ups and clinicians.

The Hub focuses on priority areas such as precision medicine, digital health, regenerative medicine, and clinical trials. By leveraging local capabilities, the Hub aims to position WA as a strategic launch pad for national growth in Australia's MTP sector, leading to substantial job creation and overall economic development in the state.
