How to apply for the FHOG

You must apply for a grant and/or pre-approval for the first home owner rate of duty within 12 months of completion of the eligible transaction. Late applications cannot be accepted.

Complete your application online through the FHOG Application Portal.

Applications lodged through the FHOG Application Portal must be submitted by an applicant. Applications submitted by a third party cannot be accepted.

Lodge with an Approved Agent

If you're applying for a loan from a financial institution and your lender is an approved agent, they can process your application and lodge it on your behalf.

Contact your lender to find out if they're an approved agent or see the list of approved agents.

Lodge with RevenueWA

Only lodge your application with RevenueWA if:

  • your lender is not an approved agent
  • you don't want to lodge your application through your lender or
  • you are not obtaining finance for your home purchase.

If you can't complete the application online, use the form below to apply for a first home owner grant and/or pre-approval for the first home owner rate of duty. If you use this form, submit it via web enquiry or by mail.

Before you submit your application, make sure the bank details you have provided are correct. If the payment is made to the wrong bank account, it may not be possible to get it back.

 


How to apply for the FHOR of duty

If you have paid duty in full at settlement and need to apply for a reassessment of duty at the first home owner rate, see the information under 'How to apply' in the first home owner rate of duty fact sheet

After your transaction has been reassessed, we will refund any overpaid duty.
