In 1986 the Cemeteries Act was reviewed and on 1 July 1987, a new Cemeteries Act came into effect.
It was the first review of the Act since 1897 and, accordingly, there were some significant changes. The biggest change was the legislation regarding the length of the Grant of Right of Burial.
