- WA Government response to the first State Infrastructure Strategy released

The State Government has today released its response to Western Australia's first State Infrastructure Strategy - Foundations for stronger tomorrow.
After extensive consultation across the public sector, the Government has supported the majority of recommendations made by Infrastructure WA in its inaugural strategy.
Infrastructure WA made 93 recommendations across nine sectors and seven themes, ranging from climate action and sustainability to transport, health and planning.
Some of the recommendations the Government fully supports relate to:
- climate change adaption;
- developing the State's hydrogen industry;
- investment in social and affordable housing;
- undertaking strategic planning for Westport;
- continuing to alleviate demand on the health system and deliver targeted investment in hospitals; and
- improving the quality and resilience of infrastructure and services provided in remote Aboriginal communities.
The response demonstrates the Government's commitment to managing demand on infrastructure, maximising existing assets, and enhancing infrastructure planning.
Under the Infrastructure WA Act 2019, the State Government is required to provide a response to the Strategy's recommendations within six months of its release.
