- Transformation of southern suburbs continues with major transport projects planned or underway

Perth's southern suburbs are being transformed with major transport projects underway or planned that will bust congestion, improve safety and provide better connections for local residents.
Premier Mark McGowan and Transport Minister Rita Saffioti visited the High Street site today to view progress on the jointly funded project.
On track to be completed later this year, the project involves a new roundabout at the intersection of High Street and Stirling Highway, as well as two new underpasses - a project that is supporting more than 500 jobs.
Other major projects underway or planned for the southern suburbs include:
- Kwinana Freeway Pedestrian and Cyclist Path from Leach Highway to Mount Henry Bridge: The $14.6 million contract will complete the final link in the existing path, providing an uninterrupted 74 kilometre journey from Mandurah to Perth CBD. This is due for completion in late-2021;
- Fremantle Principal Shared Path - Victoria Street Station to North Fremantle Station: The $5.1 million contract involves the construction of 2.1km of Principal Shared Path between Victoria Street Station and North Fremantle Station, providing a continuous off-road facility for cyclists and pedestrians. This is due for completion later this year;
- Swan River Crossings: The $230 million jointly funded project will see the replacement of the 83-year-old Fremantle Traffic Bridge and construction of a new rail bridge. Community consultation is ongoing to help inform the preferred alignment of the new bridge;
- Stock Road Pedestrian Bridge: Funding has been allocated to build a replacement bridge with early planning works underway; and
- Pinch Point Program: Upgrades are being undertaken at the intersection of South Street and Carrington Street in Hilton, to extend the right turn pocket into Carrington Street. This work is due to be completed in August.
